Education & Training

Third year nursing students from DCU School of Nursing and Human Sciences on secondment to St Mary's Campus

St Mary’s has a very proactive education and training department providing on-going support to the staff in St Mary’s and the visiting staff from other HSE healthcare facilities in relation to mandatory and optional education and training programmes. 


It also co-ordinates placements from the undergraduate nursing students from the Dublin universities - TCD, UCD, DCU, care staff on QQI - FET Level 5 programme, Pre nursing course students and transition year students on work experience.  Education is delivered in the classroom and ward based to facilitate all staff. The department is complimented by nursing staff within the hospital that provides education in their own specialist areas which are listed below.  Our nurses also deliver education sessions to the medical students on placement in St Mary’s on key topics in relation to caring for the older adult.
